| November 2003 | Preparatory committee for the establishment of Sapporo City University established. |

| December 2005 | Establishment of Sapporo City University approved. |
| March 2006 | Foundation of Public University Corporation Sapporo City University approved. |
| April 2006 | Public University Corporation Sapporo City University established. |

| October 2009 | Establishment of Graduate School of Sapporo City University approved. |
