Originally “Design” means “ to plan “ or “ to mark “.

By the development of Information Communication Technology and Manufacturing Engineering, Our world is over-flowed by diverse and enormous amount of information, artifacts and services which came from around the globe. In such a world, mission of design are to eliminate the chaos and creates the simple sign, and also to send out the messages to meet the needs of the people, who are the recipient of information and services and at the same time the user of the artifacts

Our School of Design put emphasis on the collaboration with the School of Nursing, which focus on the hospitality to the other personnel and the external collaboration with the community consisted with industry, academic and governmental sectors. 

While collaborating and working on the various practicum and projects with other sectors, our students will gain the essential skills in design, such as problem-solving, developing ideas, presentation, communication, and so on.

Our students, who have gained and developed the design-mind in our school, will flourish in the broad range of business.

Course Descriptions

Spatial Design

Spatial Design

Spatial Design focuses on the design of architecture, urban planning and urban landscape, and trains designers to be able to consider both humans and the environment. Paying particular attention to the regional characteristics of the Hokkaido area, the course will promote architectural projects for cold areas, community tourism planning and the like.

Product Design

Product Design

Product Design studies the design of easy to use and comfortable products focused on humans. Students also learn to conceive products taking into consideration the controllability from the point of view of mechatronics, robotics, and kansei(emotional) interfaces.

Manufacturing companies (designing), design offices, companies related to information technology, public organizations (planning, development, designing), etc.

Contents Design

Contents Design

Contents Design studies design utilizing visual communication skills and digital technology such as computer graphics, animation, design of computer games, websites and mobile contents.

Media Design

Media Design

Media Design trains designers as producers specialized in planning and creating various kinds of media contents. In particular, students learn how to create businesses that possess planning and management capabilities.

Potential Qualification

Qualifications to take the Examination of the 1st-class Architect/Kenchiku-shi (actual post-graduation experience required), 2nd-class Kenchiku-shi and Mokuzo-Kenchiku-shi
